توفي الـلاعب الأرجـنـتـيـني فـرانشسكو فارالو عن عمر 100 عام ويعتبر فارالو آخر من بقي على قيد
الــحـيــاة مــن جــمــيــع لاعــبــي أول مــونــديــال عـالمي أقيم في مونتفيديو (الأورغواي) عام 1930 .
وكان قد لعب في صفوف خمناسيا لابلاتا منذ عام 1928 إلى 1930 بـعـد ذلـك انتقل على سبيل الإعارة
لنادي فيلزسارسفيلد لعب معهم لمدة 5 أشهر سجل خــلالها 20 هــدفــاً وبـعد هـذا النجاح انتقل إلى نادي
بوكاجونيورز ولعب معهم 210 مباراة سجل فيها 180 هدف. ربح خلالها بــطـولة الـدوري عام 1931
و 1934 و 1935 ووصيف الدوري عام1933 وفي هذا الـنـادي أنهى مسيرته الكروية وهو في عمر
الـ 29 سنة بسـبب اصابة في الغضروف المفصلي لم يتمكن من التعافي منها. قضى فارلو 9 سنوات في
بوكاجونيورز خلالها أصبح الهداف الأول للبوكا إلى أن أتى عام 2009 وحطم مارتن باليرمو هذا الرقم
ليصبح صاحب أعلى رصيد أهداف في تاريخ هذا النادي العريق.
المنتخــب الوطني:
أما على صعيد المنتخب الوطني فقد شارك اللاعب في بطولة كــأس الــعــالم فــي الأورغـواي 1930
وساهم في وصول منتخب بلده إلى نــهــائـي تلك البطولة. كما حصل على لقب بطولة أمريكا الجنوبية
عام 1937 المقامة في بيونس آيــرس ( الأرجنتين ) في نهائي مثير مع الــمــنـتـخب البرازيلي. وبعد
عام من هذا الإنتصار وفي مباراة مع المنتخب التشيلي تلقى إصابة في الــركـبة اليسرى كانت السبب
الرئيسي في إبعاد فارالو عن الملاعب بشكل نهائي حيث لم يلعب في عام 1938 إلا مرة واحدة فقط.
عاد بعدها عام 1940 للتعافي وشــارك فــي مــبــاريــات أكــثــر ولــكنــه مــع ذلــك قــرر الإعـتــزال.
إحتفالية الأورغواي بمرور 75 عام:
في عام 2005 قــامــت الأورغــواي بــعــمـل إحتفالية بمناسبة مرور 75 عام على أول مونديال وقامت
بدعوة فرانشسكو فارالو تحدث خلالها عن مــســيــرتــه مــع الــمــنــتــخب الأرجـنتني وتحدث مطولا عن
مونديال 1930 على وجه الخصوص في مقابلة مع الإتــحــاد الــدولي لكرة القدم حيث قال : “حينها كنت
مجرد طفل بعمر الـ 20 عاما ، تمكنت من تسجيل هدف وحيد مع المنتخب المكسيكي ، هي نفس المباراة
التي تلقيت فيها اصابة قوية حرمتني من اللعب في نــصــف الــنـهائي أمام المنتخب الأمريكي وفي صباح
مباراة النهائي خضعت لــفــحــص وأحـســست بــأنــي أسـتـطـيع أن ألـعب ولكنها كانت مخاطرة كبيرة فلم
يكن هناك أي تـبــديـلات فـي ذلك الوقت ولكن كان من المستحيل أن أجعل هذه الفرصة الثمينة باللعب في
النهائي تفوتني “
ثم اضاف: ” في ذلــك الــيــوم كـنـا الـفريق الأفضل إلـى أن سددت الكرة بقوة وارتطمت بالقائم عندها
شعرت بألم الإصابة مرة أخرى عندها خــرجت لأنـي لـم أسـتطع حتى المشي “ وبملامح الحزن العميق
مع الغضب أنهى حديثه قائلً ” إلى يومنا هذا لا أصدق أننا خسرنا ذلك النهائي وأنا مقتنع بأني لو بقيت
في الملعب لحققنا البطولة ”
